About the Opportunity
With a love of big events and an understanding of what makes a great visitor experience, MIDAS trained minibus drivers will contribute to the smooth running of Conversations by transporting visitors from the car parks to the main event site.

Mount Stewart Conversations Festival, a carnival of sparkling conversation, arts and culture, will return to the shores of Strangford Lough on 1st and 2nd September 2018. This year’s festival will build on the success of two previous events, which featured some of the very best conversationalists from Ian Hislop to Kate Adie, and hopes to offer an unparalleled programme of arts and entertainment. This unmissable weekend festival which celebrates the arts, literature, music and big ideas will centre on the theme of Women in Power in this, the year in which we celebrate 100 years since women were granted the right to vote.

By getting involved you will be a friendly and welcoming face to all our visitors, Helping passengers on and off the minibus. You will be driving from the car parks to the main event site and back throughout the duration of your shift. It will be useful if you know your way around Mount Stewart so that you are able to provide direction or information for visitors when required. You will need to have a current MIDAS minibus driving certificate.

You will participate in one or two days of the event, depending on your availability. We will schedule time for you to explore the site and enjoy the experience as a visitor – we want you to have a great time too!

If you would like to get involved, we will hold Information Sessions on Friday 10th August at 10am – 1pm and Saturday 11th August at 10.30am – 1pm. They are the ideal opportunity to find out everything about Mount Stewart Conversations Festival, the different aspects of all the volunteer roles and to ask questions.

Those who go on to volunteer at the event itself must also attend an Induction and Training Session, either on Friday 24th or Saturday 25th August (10am-1pm). You will receive a National Trust t-shirt to wear during your shift/s and we’ll also cover agreed costs of your travel between home and Mount Stewart.
