About the Opportunity
Carrick Chargers Special Olympics Club is a basketball club that is currently recruiting volunteers to fill a number of general roles on a Monday evening from 7:30pm to 9pm in Carrickfergus Leisure Centre.

A general volunteer role will cover a number of tasks including: equipment set up and tear down; registration of athletes and volunteers; inducting new volunteers; supervision of athletes during activities; and serving refreshments. Therefore, no previous experience is required for this role.

In return, volunteers can expect to gain a great deal of personal satisfaction from working with a special group of people. There will also be opportunities for personal development through training courses such as first aid, safeguarding training and sports coaching qualification. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to attend national and international events as a Special Olympics volunteer.

Special Olympics Ulster is a sports organisation providing year round sports training and competition to athletes with an intellectual disability. In the Ulster Region, we have 64 community sports clubs, special schools, adult centres and services providing weekly training sessions to over 2000 athletes. All of our clubs are managed by teams of volunteers who give their valuable time to ensure our athletes can grow, develop and perform at regional, national and international event. Special Olympics Ulster is offering you the chance to make a real difference to the lives of our athletes by becoming one of the team.
