About the Opportunity
Down Special Olympics Club is a multi-sports club that is currently recruiting volunteers to support their table tennis programme on a Friday evening from 7pm to 9pm in the Ballymote Centre, Downpatrick.

A general table tennis volunteer role will cover a number of tasks including: equipment set up and tear down; registration of athletes and volunteers; inducting new volunteers; supervision of athletes during activities; and serving refreshments.

If you have a background or interest in table tennis and would be keen to share your skills and experience with our athletes, then we would love to hear from you.

In return, volunteers can expect to gain a great deal of personal satisfaction from working with a special group of people. There will also be opportunities for personal development through training courses such as first aid, safeguarding training and sports coaching qualifications. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to attend national and international events as a Special Olympics volunteer.

Special Olympics Ulster is a sports organisation providing year round sports training and competition to athletes with an intellectual disability. In the Ulster Region, we have 64 community sports clubs, special schools, adult centres and services providing weekly training sessions to over 2000 athletes. All of our clubs are managed by teams of volunteers who give their valuable time to ensure our athletes can grow, develop and perform at regional, national and international events. Special Olympics Ulster is offering you the chance to make a real difference to the lives of our athletes by becoming one of the team.
