2017 Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon

About the Opportunity
Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon will take place on Bank Holiday Monday 1st May 2017.

The organisers require a number of volunteers to assist them in the planning and delivery of the event to ensure that it is a safe and enjoyable event for all participants and spectators.

There are a number of positions available for volunteers leading up to Race Day which may be suitable for you. Please see options below;

RACE DAY POSITIONS:
1. Start Area Volunteers -
Volunteers are required to assist the start area manager with set up, management and de-rig of this area. This role will involve:
• Set-up of barriers and branding of site;
• Directing and management of all participants;
• Ensuring all participants have the correct chip and race number;
• Removal of bannering and stacking of barriers;
• De-rig of site.

*There will be a requirement for heavy lifting in this role.

Volunteers will be required from 7am (sharp) to 10.30am.

2. Route Volunteers -
Volunteers are required to direct and manage participants around the course. These positions are fundamental to the safety of each participant. This role will involve:
• Directing and encouraging entrants;
• Answering entrant queries (all answers will be provided in an Aide Memoir pre Race Day);
• Advising motorists coming onto the route .

Volunteers will be required for different durations, from 1 hour to 6 hours. Any volunteers who are working 4 hours or more will receive a free packed lunch.

3. Water Station Volunteers -
A group of volunteers are required to man the water stations along the route. The number of volunteers per water station differs depending on the location of the station. Usually each station will have a minimum of 6 people and a maximum of 12 people. Their roles will involve:
• Setting up water tables;
• Filling and distributing cups of water for all participants;
• General tidy up of area.

Volunteers will be required for different durations, from 1 hour to 6 hours. Any volunteers who are working 4 hours or more will receive a free packed lunch.

4. Finish Line Volunteers -
Volunteers are required to assist the Finish Area Manager with the set-up and management of the finish pen. This role will include;
• Planning of barriers and bannering;
• Set-up and distribution of medals, certificates and finishers packs;
• Directing participations once across the finish line;
• Dismantling of finish pen.
